Stop Motion Animation.
Audio Challenge.
This animation came from a challenge I set myself: find a random audio clip I liked and reimagine it in a completely different context. The original clip featured a woman rummaging through her seemingly endless bag while being interviewed on the street. I decided to flip the setting entirely—turning her into a cavewoman digging through her belongings. The contrast between the modern names she uses and the prehistoric versions of the items she pulls out added a fun, comedic twist.
For the laughter in the background, I used cutout hyenas to visually represent the sound. I made them from cardboard with split pins to create moving silhouettes, which was a way for me to experiment with different stop motion techniques in a short time.
Some clips were unfortunately distorted on my USB, so it’s not fully finished—like the part where the apple keeps jumping in and out of frame—but I’m still really happy with how it turned out. Every experience is a learning opportunity.
Client Project.
At university, we were given a live brief from a real client who needed promotional material for their company. The turnaround time was tight, but I decided to create a stop motion how-to video to bring a more playful and engaging feel to the content—while still sticking closely to the brand’s guidelines.
The client was a DIY company focused on empowering young girls to learn practical skills they might not typically be taught. With that in mind, I used the provided branding, tone, and audience insight to shape the direction of the animation.
To keep the visuals dynamic, I included simple 2D animated elements alongside the stop motion, adding extra layers of interest and clarity. One of my favourite parts of the process was creating and animating a crochet puppet—I had so much fun with it and would love to explore that visual style more in future projects.
